As an asset management business, our people are our greatest assets.
Our staff are encouraged and incentivised to act like owners. The core values that define our actions include fairness, integrity, inspiring trust, encouraging innovation and creating client value. Management structures are flat which allows for quick decision-making. Those who join Coronation join a culture of teamwork, performance and excellence; and entrepreneurial flair remains a vital component of our cultural DNA.
OUR RECRUITMENT PHILOSOPHY
As a company, we always strive to be the best and our recruitment philosophy facilitates this as well as our fundamental commitment to transformation in South Africa. Coronation Fund Managers aims to recruit the best candidates available. We are also committed to the development of our existing staff and therefore promote a transparent recruitment process.
OUR CULTURE AND VALUES
We are an independent investment business focused on the long term, with a strong culture of staff ownership and entrepreneurial flair.
Our people are independent thinkers with shared values and the ability to achieve with passion and energy. With a singular focus on fund management, we strive to be the best in all we do.
We have six values that define our culture, principles and behaviour:
- Always put clients first
- Think and act like an owner, not an employee
- Always act with integrity
- One business one team
- Excellence in all we do
- Think contribution not title
At the heart of the Coronation DNA are our people. It is their passion, insight and extraordinary blend of skill which will sustain our business into the future. We operate in a flat structure with a culture of excellence.
Teamwork, individual achievement and continuous learning that is fully supported by the company, are all key components of our culture.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OF OUR PEOPLE
We believe that the effective development and transfer of skills is essential to the transformation of the local investment management industry. As such, training, mentorship and career planning play integral roles in the advancement of all staff.
Staff are encouraged to enhance their knowledge and skills through part-time study and by attending conferences and workshops. In most instances the business provides financial assistance towards tuition fees.
Areas of training include Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), university qualifications, short courses including regulatory and product training and softer skills training in the form of individual and group coaching, as well as mentorship.
CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT INITIATIVES
The upliftment of society is an objective shared by all citizens of South Africa. At Coronation, we believe that fundamental to achieving this goal is the empowerment of individuals and communities. Consequently, our approach to corporate social investment (CSI) is about becoming involved in long-term programmes that result in quantifiable change to people’s lives.
In line with our philosophy of investing for the long term, our commitment to social interventions is no less than three years. All partner programmes report on the progress of clearly articulated objectives and desired outcomes biannually.
The framework and guiding principles of all our CSI engagements are governed by a clearly defined policy aligned to our business objectives.
- Unlocking potential
